MACEDON, Koinon of. Vitellius. 69 AD. Æ 24mm (9.41 gm). Laureate head left / Macedonian shield. RPC 1618; Gaebler 246. VF, red-brown surfaces with touches of green. Very Rare. ($150) From the Collection of Philip DeVicci. The Koinon, or federation, of Macedon was a group of cities that issued a joint coinage in the name of the federation. Thessalonica, one of the member cities, is the most likely mint.
